Lady’s maid…

To wedded Lady?

Lady’s maid Jane Bailey’s life is turned upside down by the arrival of wealthy gentleman Robert Kendal. He’s come to take Jane to visit her long-lost, aristocratic grandfather. Travelling together, they succumb to a mutual attraction. Yet Jane knows a maid should not hope to love a gentleman, even if she’s suddenly wearing silk dresses and dining with the Family. Society decrees they cannot marry, but how long can Jane deny her heart?

 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I loved this book, the characters caught my attention straight off and I was addicted, bound to finish it all at once!
Jane is a lady’s maid, but is also the estranged granddaughter of a gentleman
Robert is related by marriage to janes grandfather and is sent to bring her to him
Robert likes her instantly but Jane is wary, any relationship between a servant and a gentleman is forbidden
Jane is so real and vibrant and she leaps off the page. She is also so conscious of who and what she is and it made me immediately bond with her and wish for her happy ending
Robert I struggled with a bit as his feelings are so hidden but the split in dialogue made it possible to understand what he was thinking and feeling and when I finally understood his motivations it made me warm to him and hope that he is happy but also strong enough to cope with the twists, turns and secrets that get revealed as the story continues
This book constantly surprised me and kept me on my toes which pulled me in even deeper and now I’m not sure I want to go back to real life!
