With the one that got away!
Celebrity chef James Harrington never expected to find himself face-to-face with Chloe, his first love, again… Especially, with her working as a chambermaid at his luxury hotel! Their chemistry’s as strong as ever, but she’s hiding a secret. Can James convince Chloe that their love is worth taking a chance on – again?
Katie Fforde wrote, when honouring her with the Romantic Novelists’ Association’s Outstanding Achievement Award in 2019 said – “Liz Fielding’s books, with their warmth, humour and emotion, have charmed millions of readers. She is a true star of the romantic fiction genre.”
Chloe has run away from her privileged background and is working as a maid in Paris. James is on business in Paris and sees Chloe, the girl he fell in love with at school and had never forgotten
I loved Chloe as a character, she is strong and independent, she has had troubles in her life but is determined to overcome them and be herself instead of under her controlling fathers thumb
James is shocked to see Chloe working as a maid in the hotel is staying at. He had never forgotten her and this could be their second chance. He is more controlling than he realises which made me get annoyed with him at times but everything he did was in an attempt to make Chloe happy and keep her safe which made me adore him
I really enjoyed Chloe and James’ story, it made me think that love can be strong and stand the test of time even when people are apart. Seeing them both develop as characters made them seem more real and drew me further into their story
I would recommend this book to those who enjoy a romance story where the main characters have been torn apart but have made their way back to each other, even though there are speed bumps along the way
