Letting down her guard…
Might save her life…
With their family name in tatters, Katherine Leofric and her sister are headed for a new life at their brother’s estate. They are escorted by the hardened Jarin, Earl of Borwyn, whom Katherine believes is only after her dowry! Then her sister is abducted on their treacherous journey, and Katherine must rely on Jarin’s protection. Now, seeing a different side to the man she’s sworn to hate, it’s her heart that’s most at risk!
Katherine and her sister Linota need to move from where they are living to their brothers new home and Jarin, the Earl of Borwyn, is to escort them but along the journey Linota is kidnapped and Katherine is determined to rescue her
I loved Katherine, she is a strong character who would do anything for her sister and those she cares about. She is strong willed and constantly goes against what Jarin tells her, even though he is trying to keep her safe, she is also willing to fight for what she believes in which made me like her even more
I adored Jarin, he is a complicated character who knows what he wants but he also has a softer more vulnerable side around Katherine. He is loyal and is determined to do what is right even when he may not want to which made me love him even more
Both Katherine and Jarin have had difficult childhoods and pasts but they are well rounded characters who’s verbal sparring kept each other on their toes
This book has a fabulous mix of danger, drama and intrigue which kept me reading, desperate to know what would happen next, who kidnapped Linota and why
I would recommend this book to those who enjoy historical romances with a twist which will have you hooked and supporting the hero and heroine right from the beginning

Ella Matthews lives and works in beautiful South Wales. When not thinking about handsome heroes she can be found walking along the coast with her husband and their two children (probably still thinking about heroes but at least pretending to be interested in everyone else).
