The Knight’s Runaway Maiden by Nicole Locke

The Knight's Runaway Maiden Cover

She hates all Warstones.

Can this one win her love?

Balthus of Warstone secretly loved Séverine, even though she was unhappily married to his brute of a brother, then she fled six years ago. Now her husband is dead, Balthus must find Séverine and reclaim her sons as his father’s heirs. Balthus’ desire is to claim her too, and despite his battle-maimed arm and her distrust of his family, he’ll prove he’s a suitor worthy of such a courageous woman…

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

A story of lies, secrets and family
Séverine has been running from her husband Ian for years, desperate to keep her children safe from him and the cruelty of his family. Balthus is Ian’s youngest brother and he is looking for Séverine as she has something that he needs
I loved Séverine, she is a strong and courageous woman who would do anything to keep her children safe. She has friends and people who are loyal to her in villages all over the place who protect her. She is quick and smart whilst she is also incredibly loving and a brilliant mother
Balthus has always liked Séverine from afar and even though he is looking for her, he still wants to keep her safe almost above all else. He is a complex character who is so affected by his family and his past that it makes him and those around him cautious and at times scared of what might happen. Spending more time with Séverine makes it easier as a reader to understand his character better and he develops a lot throughout the book, both as a character and as a person
This book caught my attention right from the beginning and I very quickly became emotionally involved with the characters, routing for them but also knowing that some of the secrets and lies may destroy any chance of a relationship between them. I’m so glad that I had the chance to read this book and fall in love with the characters and their story
Since I totally adored this book, it won’t come as a surprise that I would recommend it to so many people but especially those who enjoy a historical romance with some amazing characters who will worm their way into your heart
