Will a second chance at love be enough to heal old wounds?

He failed everyone…especially her.

Henry Livingstone, the Marquess of Heartford, was destroyed by the fire that claimed his sister’s life. Haunted by her death, he fled his home and the woman he loved. When he finally returns to restore his family’s wealth, he’s met with his demons, both old and new, including Lady Julia St. John, his former fiancée and the woman he scandalously abandoned at the altar.

Once a diamond of the first water, Lady Julia St. John is a victim of cruel gossip and shunned from society. To salvage her pride, she focuses on family and rediscovers a passion for painting. Never did she imagine that she would ever see the Marquess of Heartford again…or face her utterly unresolved feelings for him. She should hate him…but hate is the last thing she feels.

When sparks fly under the same roof and attraction eclipses heartbreak, Henry and Julia are left with a choice—take the risk and fight their way to a second chance at love, or walk away forever.

A tale of the enduring power of love
Following a tragic incident Henry jilted Julia and fled the country to try and escape from his painful memories. Now he is back and they are forced together again but is the past too much to overcome?
I’m not going to lie, at times I really didn’t like Julia or Henry. They both went through times when they were really self centred and I didn’t always understand their reactions, for example: Henry had jilted her but expected Julia to still be the same person and to forgive him instantly, and my thoughts were erm what?? I would be mad at someone especially if they suddenly reappeared and expected nothing to have changed. Both Henry and Julia have been through some difficult times but as they start to understand how much they still care for each other and develop more as characters they start to become the people I knew they could be. As the book went on they both became more realistic and likeable and by the end I really did love them
This book is full of drama with Julie and Henry communicating at first with arguments and the will they/won’t they part of the story. They are also surrounded by a fabulous cast of characters who are so important and it’s through them that we discover so much more about them and their relationship. I’m hoping that 2 of the characters will have their own HEA as they have also been pulled apart but haven’t forgotten their past relationship so I will have to keep an eye out for their story
I would recommend this book to those who enjoy a reunited lovers story which will also catch your attention and have you hooked
