Surprise Reunion with His Cinderella by Rachael Stewart

9780008910402

Can one week in paradise…
…heal ten years of heartache?

When the elite M dating agency sends wealthy Freddie Highgrove to the Seychelles for a weeklong “date,” the last person he’s expecting to be matched with is Jasmine Walker, his first love and ex-fiancée! Ten years ago, his family’s expectations for a high-society marriage sent housekeeper’s daughter Jasmine running. Can one week in paradise bring them back together?

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Totally loved it
Freddie and Jasmine were torn apart when they were teenagers and now an exclusive match making services has them both at a private resort in the Seychelles, the place they always dreamed of as their honeymoon but can this second chance put the past behind them
I loved Jasmine, she broke off her engagement with Freddie when they were younger as his family didn’t approve and she didn’t want to cause a rift between them. She is smart, independent and knows what she wants, but she is also scared of pain and of not belonging which made me really connect with her. She is the kind of person that I would love to meet and get to know, she felt real and I could feel her emotions along with her
Freddie doesn’t want to fall in love, especially since Jasmine left and broke his heart but meeting her again makes him question that. He has a lot of emotions that he can’t always process and seeing him work through that made him even more loveable. He adores his family but also wants his own independence, he doesn’t want to do things just because of them and I think this made him stronger as a character. He stands up for what he believes in and also supports others to do the same which made me love him even more
Both Jasmine and Freddie are both haunted by their past and relationships didn’t work out because subconsciously they weren’t with each other (this isn’t a spoiler, they realise this very early on) and seeing them understand more about what happened back then and wonder if things would be different now is a huge part of the story. They both develop to more rounded people who have a better emotional understanding of themselves and realise that things don’t have to be what they originally thought
I loved this book, Freddie and Jasmine wound their way into my heart so quickly and I was so addicted that I read it all in one go. Their personalities, the adventures dates they go on and the amazing setting (which I so want to go to!) made it a book that I would want to share it with everyone but especially those who love emotional romances with some surprises round the corners

Rachael Stewart adores conjuring up stories for the readers of Harlequin Mills & Boon and Deep Desires Press, with tales varying from the heartwarmingly romantic to the wildly erotic.

She’s been writing since she could put pen to paper as the stacks of scrawled on A4 sheets in her loft will attest to, and the lovingly bound short stories that her father would run off at work and proudly share out with his colleagues. Thinking it was a pipe dream to be published one day, she pursued a sensible career in business but she was really play-acting, achieving the appropriate degree and spending many years in the corporate world where she never truly belonged. Always happiest when she was sat at her laptop in the quiet hours tapping out a story or two. And so here she is, a published author, her full-time pleasure, a dream come true.

A Welsh lass at heart, she now lives in Yorkshire with her husband and three children, and if she’s not glued to her laptop, she’s wrapped up in them or enjoying the great outdoors seeking out inspiration.

From Best Friend to Fiancée by Ellie Darkins

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Emotional rollercoaster
Lara is a social media influencer and Jannes is a professional yachtsman. They have been friends for years but Jannes is in danger of losing sponsorship because of newspaper reports claiming he is a playboy so he and Lara decide that they will fake date each other to stop the reports and to give him his professional image back
I loved Lara, she is a fun and genuine character. She was emotionally hurt when she was younger and it still haunts her so seeing her have to face some of her fears and realising that maybe she doesn’t have to go through everything alone makes her feel like a stronger person. She was instantly likeable and I found myself loving her more as the book went on
Because more of the story is written from Lara’s point of view it was harder for me to “get” Jannes initially but as the story developed and seeing him through Lara’s eyes did help me to start to adore him very quickly. Like Lara he had some emotional issues from his childhood that were still affecting his life but they were so much a part of his character and what motivated him to be the person he is now that seeing them challenged and his reaction made him a stronger character in my eyes which made me adore him even more
They challenged each other and led me onto an emotional rollercoaster as they and their relationship changed and developed making them look more at themselves and what is most important in their lives and as a result their story pulled me in and didn’t let me go as I ended up desperate to know what would happen next and if they were able to become the people I knew they could be
Both Lara, Jannes and their world felt so real to me that at times I forgot that it was fiction and wanted to look them up online so it will come as no surprise to hear that I totally loved this book which I would recommend to those who enjoy a romance with amazing characters who have to fight against the odds for their happy ending

Bound by a Ring and a Secret by Jennifer Faye

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

A book that looks at the importance of dreams
Dario and Gianna are both running from their pasts but when they accidentally end up living together it makes them question their long held beliefs
Gianna is a fabulous character, she is a camerawomen and a photographer but also a perfectionist in what she does which allows her work to connect to people. She isn’t interested in lots of money or fame but instead would rather get out in nature and take photos which is her true passion. She is the kind of character who I would love to meet!
Dario is a rich businessman but his passion is writing and he has already written an international best seller but he is stuck on how to make his next book right so the publishers will accept it. I suspect that many of the emotions Dario goes through in terms of his writing would ring true to many authors and this did help him to feel more human for me. He has insecurities and is anxious about his writing, especially as his family wouldn’t approve but seeing him become more confident about what he wants made him a character who I could relate more strongly to and made me love him more and more
Both Gianna and Dario develop and change so much throughout the book but this was needed for them as they realised that some of their priorities may not be the same as they used to be. They needed the support and encouragement from each other to become the characters I knew they could be and that is something which drew me into their world and had me so invested in the outcome of their story
I became so totally addicted to their world and their story that I read this book in one sitting and it’s a book that I would definitely recommend to those who enjoy a romance that looks at the characters hopes and dreams whilst also challenges them, and all in an amazing setting

Awakening His Shy Cinderella by Sophie Pembroke

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Friendship or could it be more?

Rachel is one of those people who is often overlooked, she knows how to fade into the background but when she accompanies her best friends brother, Damon, to a TV quiz recording her life starts to change
I loved Rachel, she is walked over by her family but she is also incredibly creative and has a talent for shop windows as well as social media. She is used to being in the background but this Christmas she is determined that things will change and seeing her develop and come out of her shell as the book progressed made her even more of a rounded character and someone I wish I could be like
Damon has struggled in life with his academic family, he instead went in a different direction with his own successful company. It has however impacted on his view of the world and the relationships he has but he has always been fascinated with Rachel and seeing him learn what is important in his life made him a character I could love. He does struggle at times, he isn’t perfect but I think that’s part of his charm and something that works so well for his character
This book looks at what is important in life and how Rachel changes and becomes the person she had only dreamed of being. This is more Rachel’s story but that works so well and what had me hooked, especially as she is a character I could relate to and want to be like
I would recommend this book to those who enjoy a romance that challenges the characters and which will draw you into the story

A New Foundation by Rochelle Alers

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Engaging with a lot of character struggles
Sonja has been hired by Taylor to catalogue the items in his families recently discovered mansion but it will bring about changes in both their lives
I liked Sonja, she is good at what she does and has a veneer of being ok even when she is struggling with her past. Trust is the most important thing for her in any kind of relationship and understanding her backstory means that this makes sense and it makes her stronger as a character
Taylor has had people judge him on his past previously and this has made him wary. He is very protective of his family and wants people to like him for who he is not for what they think he can give them. He respects Sonja’s boundaries and empowers her to dictate their relationship and for me this really worked and made me start to love him
So much of this story is written from Sonja’s point of view that it can at times be hard to get a read on Taylor which made it more difficult to understand him but at the same time allowed me to see more into Sonja’s life and how she develops into the person she could be
I will admit to being a bit disappointed at the end as I really wanted to know what happens next, if they restore the building, what secrets they uncover and how it comes together but I think that’s just me and how my brain works in situations like this. I do think it would also work if this was part of a series looking at each of the siblings and how they come together restoring the mansion and as such I will be keeping an eye out for their stories
I would recommend this book to those who enjoy a romance with a lot of character development with some secrets and troubles in their past but who will push past this to become lodged in your heart

Winning Back His Runaway Bride by Jessica Gilmore

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Can love be enough?
Charlie and Matteo had it all, the fairytale romance and wedding but then their lives started to fall apart and they filed for divorce but before that could happen Matteo was involved in a car accident and to him it’s the day before their wedding. The doctors say he needs rest and Charlie is persuaded to take him to Italy to recuperate
Charlie is an independent free spirited person who felt neglected in her marriage and forced to change and that bitterness is a key factor in the start which did at times make it harder to understand her and sympathise but as the story develops she becomes a more rounded person who I grew to love
My initial views on Matteo were influenced by Charlie but once I started to understand him he became easier to like. He is determined to change and to save his marriage especially once he realises how important it is. Those changes make him feel more real to me and more of a person who I respect
Matteo and Charlie’s story is well written and in a beautiful setting but it was difficult for me to read, mostly because it’s what happens after the fairytale and about losing your individuality which is something that I fear but I did love how the characters learnt to be themselves and what is important in life
I would recommend this book to those who enjoy a romance that looks at some of the difficulties in marriage but also the power of love and dreams

Reunited with Her Blue-Eyed Billionaire by Barbara Wallace

reunited with her blue-eyed billionaire

For billionaire Whit Martin, Jamie Rutkowski is the one who got away. Now his college girlfriend is back to celebrate their best’s friend’s marriage. As their chemistry reignites into an even greater passion, Whit’s determined that this time their relationship will work. But are they ready to unlock the secrets of their past…if it means a chance at forever?

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

A gripping story of pain and acceptance
Whit and Jamie were a couple in college but he left to play polo in Europe and she became a ghostwriter. Years later a friends wedding throws them back together and they realise that some of their old feelings are still there
On the outside Whit had it all, the ridiculously wealthy family, the looks and the charm but inside it was far from the truth. Whit has been scarred by his past and he hopes that by telling his story it will allow him to get closure on events that have haunted him for years as well as trying to give hope to people who are struggling with some of the things he did. I liked Whit as a character, he is vulnerable but strong, haunted but determined and it made him feel so real and so human
Jamie was slightly harder for me to like, she is focused on the past and how she let Whit go even though she loved him because she thought that would be best for him. I loved seeing how the ghostwriting process works and how she is able to draw Whit out of himself so that she can get it right when writing the book
This book looked at some of the more difficult aspects of life, how events can shape a persons life and how people are able to come back fighting and stronger than they were before and it comes across sensitively but also sincerely which can be hard to do
I would recommend this book to those who enjoy a romance where the characters have to overcome a lot of hurdles before they can be together and you will grow to love them the more you read

The Heiress’s Pregnancy Surprise by Donna Alward

Heiress's Pregnancy Surprise

A VIP assignment…
an unexpected consequence!

Ex-SAS officer Jacob Wolfe’s latest job, as aristocrat Charlotte Pemberton’s bodyguard, is pushing him to his limits. Never one to step over the line, he’s determined to ignore their intense connection. Until a single dance leads to a forbidden kiss… and Jacob is tempted to break all his rules. But their resulting night together has an unexpected consequence…

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Charlotte Pemberton is the daughter of an Earl and her family runs a hugely successful fashion business of which she is Head of PR but she has received some threats and her family insist on hiring a bodyguard to protect her during New York fashion week. Jacob is ex special forces and is determined to keep her safe but Charlotte isn’t like he was expecting
I liked Charlotte, she is fun but also dedicated and really smart. She wants to try and be perfect, to not cause any ripples but it’s Jacob who brings her out of herself and makes her embrace her individuality and who she is rather than just being the face of the brand
Jacob expects Charlotte to be a pampered princess and is surprised when he finds out that she isn’t. He is very good at his job but has a past that still haunts him and that could affect his future. He is loyal and determined, the kind of person you would want there if you were in danger
This book looked at some of the traditional class stereotypes and challenges of people can cross over. It embraces individuality and advocates for people being themselves
I loved reading about Jacob and Charlotte, their story drew me in and made me want to find out what would happen next
I would recommend this book to those who enjoy a romance with a hint of danger and fabulous characters that will catch your attention and keep you reading

Stolen Kiss with her Billionaire Boss by Susan Meier

Stolen Kiss Cover

Christmas has arrived…

And she’s spending it with her boss!

New Yorker Erin is intrigued when Hugo Harrington asks for her help on a hotel renovation in London, just weeks before Christmas! But Erin soon discovers how personal this project is to her brooding boss. Watching him wrestle with the memories of his past uncovers a side to Hugo she’s never seen. And then a stolen snowbound kiss changes everything…

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Erin is the premier events coordinator in New York and she has been hired by Hugo Harrington to plan a Christmas Eve party at his new hotel in London. What she doesn’t know is that the hotel has a very personal connection to Hugo
I loved Erin, she is a person who has experienced hardship when her husband unexpectedly died leaving her pregnant with their son Noah but everything she does is to make her son happy and to provide a good life for him, she even refuses to go to London unless he and her mother can come too. She is good at what she does, sensitive and willing to try and make things perfect for the party and maybe start to heal Hugo in the process
Hugo was sent away from his family when he was a teenager and he is determined that the hotel be like it was when he was a child, including having his brother and sister there with him, only problem is that they hate him for leaving them. He is damaged in a way that he doesn’t realise but being back in London and in the hotel brings a lot of things back to him and seeing him starting to make peace with his made him seem so real
I loved the setting of London and the excitement that Erin and Noah have discovering more of the city including seeing Santa at Hamleys, it’s Christmas in London after all and with a young child it’s a dream place to go, then again I may be slightly biased because I love London and it becomes more magical at Christmas time
I would recommend this book to those who enjoy a Christmas romance with characters you will love and who develop so much throughout the story (and in a fabulous setting)

Snowbound at the Manor by Ellie Darkins

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Jess is best friends with Lara, an Instagram influencer and they are booked to spend some time before Christmas at Upton Manor, a country house in the Yorkshire moors but a freak snowstorm has come in, Lara is stuck in Geneva and Jess is at Upton Manor with its owner Rufus
Jess was a great character, she is independent but also loves to have fun (snowman building and scrabble challenges among others). Being at Upton Manor allows Jess time to think about what’s important and what she wants in life
I loved Rufus, he is strong but also has a vulnerable side which made him feel more real. He is doing what he can to save his families home and his dedication and determination really came through
Both Jess and Rufus have had troubles in their past which really impacts them in the present and seeing them develop as characters and realising what is still causing and issue and why kept me reading
I also found it fascinating to see into the world of Instagram influencers and what they have to do to get the perfect photo that you see on their feed and I’m not going to lie, some really surprised me!
I would recommend this book to those who enjoy a romance with fabulous characters trapped in the snow learning about themselves and becoming even more loveable and real
