Marrying The Heiress by Autumn Miller

Kate

I didn’t expect to inherit a multi-million pound estate – especially under dubious circumstances – but I’ve only ever wanted to be financially secure.

For years I’ve been cast out from my family, desperately scraping together a living, trying to find some self-worth in the process.

But the rightful heir – Will Dawlish – hates my guts.

A-Daw-rable Dawlish, the papers call him. Dee-Lish Dawlish.

I’d like to think we could be friends, allies even, but all he wants is his inheritance back.

And even though Will’s distractingly handsome, even though he’s adored by the country as a cricketing legend, he’s emotionally bankrupt.

Will

I just want my grandfather’s inheritance back. I’ve got big plans to realise, and Kate Parsons has utterly derailed them.

After pursuing her through my lawyers, I’m left with one brazen plan.

Marrying her is the only option.

It makes good business sense; the divorce will be clean and tidy, my finances restored.

There will be nothing romantic between us because there’s absolutely nothing to like about Kate Parsons.

Not her lies, her mysteries, nor her blatant thievery.

And when she walks down the aisle towards me, I refuse to be moved by her graceful beauty.

I don’t want to notice her dazzling smile.

All I need to focus on is the next twelve months. Except, I also have to meet a stipulation of the prenup: consummating this marriage.

If you like your romances sexy, playful, and with guys in full possession of killer smiles, bods and moves, then buy this book!

The Rags to Riches books are a collection of steamy romance stories which can be read in any order, though reader enjoyment will be improved if you start with Marrying The Heiress.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Fun and addictive
Following the death of a friend Kate has been left in the position of being forced to marry his nephew, Will Dawlish more commonly known as Daw, due to a complicated inheritance bequest in his will
I liked Kate, she is smart and independent, she stands up for what she believes in and she doesn’t let Daw push her around or force her to release the inheritance money which I really liked and admired about her. She was her own person and she felt like a real person to me, not just a character
Daw is a retired England cricketer who has been working on projects for the last few years which need investment so his grandfathers death and the inheritance going to Kate really put a spanner in the works. He isn’t really a nice person to start with but as the story develops, his background comes out and he becomes more real and relatable. He had a lot of emotional pain which impacts his character but his relationship with Kate helps him to start to process things. He is determined and also frustrated when things don’t go his way but he is also committed and by the end I loved him and found myself wishing that he and Kate could sort things out
There is a lot of drama in this book with the inheritance such a huge part of the story and also a big divider between them. It asked what was important and both Daw and Kate set tests for each other, expecting the other would fail and prove their beliefs about them true. Breaking down their relationship and the emotions that wind around them as characters made this book feel genuine
I was hooked right from the start and there was so much that I loved, there are certain bits that I end up reading again and again because they are so important but also so emotional and at times made me smile
I would recommend this book to those who enjoy a romance of enemies to lovers who have many bumps in the road but who fight for what is important

Ruined by the Bachelor Marquess by Cecilia Rene

Ruined by the Bachelor Marquess_web

Will a second chance at love be enough to heal old wounds?

He failed everyone…especially her.

Henry Livingstone, the Marquess of Heartford, was destroyed by the fire that claimed his sister’s life. Haunted by her death, he fled his home and the woman he loved. When he finally returns to restore his family’s wealth, he’s met with his demons, both old and new, including Lady Julia St. John, his former fiancée and the woman he scandalously abandoned at the altar.

Once a diamond of the first water, Lady Julia St. John is a victim of cruel gossip and shunned from society. To salvage her pride, she focuses on family and rediscovers a passion for painting. Never did she imagine that she would ever see the Marquess of Heartford again…or face her utterly unresolved feelings for him. She should hate him…but hate is the last thing she feels.

When sparks fly under the same roof and attraction eclipses heartbreak, Henry and Julia are left with a choice—take the risk and fight their way to a second chance at love, or walk away forever.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

A tale of the enduring power of love
Following a tragic incident Henry jilted Julia and fled the country to try and escape from his painful memories. Now he is back and they are forced together again but is the past too much to overcome?
I’m not going to lie, at times I really didn’t like Julia or Henry. They both went through times when they were really self centred and I didn’t always understand their reactions, for example: Henry had jilted her but expected Julia to still be the same person and to forgive him instantly, and my thoughts were erm what?? I would be mad at someone especially if they suddenly reappeared and expected nothing to have changed. Both Henry and Julia have been through some difficult times but as they start to understand how much they still care for each other and develop more as characters they start to become the people I knew they could be. As the book went on they both became more realistic and likeable and by the end I really did love them
This book is full of drama with Julie and Henry communicating at first with arguments and the will they/won’t they part of the story. They are also surrounded by a fabulous cast of characters who are so important and it’s through them that we discover so much more about them and their relationship. I’m hoping that 2 of the characters will have their own HEA as they have also been pulled apart but haven’t forgotten their past relationship so I will have to keep an eye out for their story
I would recommend this book to those who enjoy a reunited lovers story which will also catch your attention and have you hooked

Hollywood Hero, Hollywood in Muskoka Series, Book 3 by Madelle Morgan

MadelleMorgan_HollywoodHero_1400px

Unrequited love is hell on earth

Personal assistant Wendy Davila is in love with her boss, Halden Armstrong, megastar of the Apollo superhero film franchise. But she can’t compete with the succession of stick-thin blond beauties he’s caught and released. Or can she? When Halden asks Wendy to accompany him on a fishing trip to Muskoka, it’s her chance to remake her dark-haired, curvy Latina self into his ideal woman and cast her hook for Halden.

Can he trust her?

Halden has been burned by love. The last thing he wants is a woman like his ex who faked it until she landed him. Wendy is special, and the private trip is an opportunity to explore his feelings for her. However, the Greek god has an Achilles’ heel. Can he trust Wendy with a secret that could ruin his career? And will she still care for him when she learns the truth?

When Apollo falls off his pedestal, Wendy must decide if the man she adores is a keeper.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Fun but different at the same time
Halden is a movie star and Wendy is his PA but things change when they go away together to a remote fishing lodge
I liked Wendy, she knows what she wants and will follow that goal but is also cautious and almost nervous at times. She is fun and very good at her job but is not so outdoorsy which is kind of needed on their trip and seeing her navigate her away though made me more invested in her as a character
Halden is good at what he does but because he is famous he loves to get off the grid sometimes. He has a secret that could possibly destroy his career but at the same time he does his best to work past that and be the best person he can be. I will admit that at times I hated Halden, he would do something to upset Wendy and it felt so awful but he does realise what he has done and does start to learn from things although it does take time. As a result however my view of him was quite up and down and it was harder for me to bond to him as a character
I loved the wilderness and the descriptions of the locations as well as the excitement of catching fish and the relaxation that fishing can bring people and this made me feel immersed in the location and helped it feel more authentic to me
Although at times I wasn’t sure about Wendy and Haldens relationship I did enjoy their story and seeing how they develop as characters throughout into the people that they could be
I would recommend this book to those who enjoy a story of love and romance in a fabulous setting but with some twists that could catch you by surprise

Our Little Secret by Rachael Stewart

OUR LITTLE SECRET UK cover

A little secret sexy fun
Under the Tuscan sun!

It’s her best mate’s wedding week – and Faye Davenport is celebrating with a skinny dip under the Tuscan moon. Except she’s not alone. The sexy Italian dish is Rafael Perez – her mate’s off-limits older brother. But now it’s too late. This illicit, irresistible fire is already out of control…

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Oh my gosh!!
She is the maid of honour, he is the brides forbidden older brother but things are never that simple, are they?
Faye is a character who has been hurt in the past but who still believes in love, however her best friend is getting married in Tuscany and she is determined to have fun, and if she finds someone for a no strings attached affair then that’s even better. She would do anything to make her friend happy but she can’t stop her attraction to Rafael. I loved seeing the Tuscan castle and the wedding week through her eyes, it made me feel almost part of the celebration which I adored. Faye is the kind of person who I would love to know which had me totally on her side and routing for her happy ending
Rafael believes that love only causes pain but meeting Faye may change that. He is hot, sexy and the kind of man I would love to wake up next to. He has issues in his life but with Faye’s support he starts to confront them and learn what is actually important
It wasn’t only the Tuscan sun that was super hot in this book but it made me even more hooked and pulled into Faye and Rafaels world
I would recommend this book to those who enjoy a steamy romance in an amazing location with some fabulous characters and a lot of drama that will keep you on your toes

Night Shifts with the Miami Doc by Ann McIntosh

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

What is more important, career or love?
Regina has taken some time off from her normal hospital to work at one in Miami in Florida for a short contract and whilst there she bumps into Mateo who she worked with when he was a student
I liked Regina, she is incredibly driven and wants to be Chief of Medicine at her normal hospital so has a plan on how to get there but she doesn’t count on Mateo making her feel things and he starts to break through her icy facade
Mateo was an easier character to like, he raised his adopted siblings after his parents died and he had to almost put some of his life and dreams on hold so he could do that. He doesn’t want anything long term in terms of relationships but things with Regina may make that a difficult pledge to stick to!
Both Regina and Mateo are dedicated doctors and this came across when I read about their interactions with their patients. They know what they are talking about and their bedside manner is really good. This book also looks at some of the more specialised hospital patients instead of being an emergency room and it was really good to follow some of the patients through from the start in their treatment and diagnosis without it feeling too overpowering
I think that this book would probably appeal to those who enjoy reading romances with a lot of drama and some really strong character personalities who will capture your heart and attention

The Sheikh’s Mail-Order Bride : Halabi Sheikh’s by Leslie North

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Not what I was expecting but still fabulous
Prince Danyal has accidentally ordered a bride online following a drunken night with friends and had then forgotten about it. Jayne is that bride and with her young son Noah has travelled half way round the world for the wedding and things aren’t quite happening how she expected…
Danny is a brilliant character, he has been hiding secrets his whole life as instead makes up for it by being the life and soul of the party but meeting Jayne turns everything upside down and makes him look inside himself and question his beliefs and actions. He is also fun, caring and stubborn but this is part of what made me love him
Jayne is a brilliant mum and she would do anything for her son but she also wants to be happy and Danny could do make that happen for her. She comes across as a real person with a lot of depth and I could easily see her stepping off the page
This novella caught my attention and it looks at the differences between the faces we put on and the actual person underneath (as well as some of the drama from online dating!)
I would recommend this book to those who enjoy a romance where the main characters challenge each other to become the person they know they can be with some surprises along the way

Trust Me by Candace Hutton

Trust Me -candacefinalbook1

Brooke Anderson never pictured herself as a divorcee at twenty-eight. But when she mentions getting a post-nup to her husband Garrett after one deliciously sex-filled year, he promptly serves her with divorce papers. Admittedly, she could’ve told him about how her father left her and her mother homeless when she was young, and how she’s never been wired to trust anyone. Especially those closest to her. Now, all she wants to do is avoid anywhere he might be so she won’t have to face him again.

But she’s not the only one who can’t seem to trust.

Garrett Call grew up with parents who married for money and wants no part of a life that puts material possessions above love. He reinvented himself in college, complete with a new last name so he couldn’t be tied to his family’s lucrative business. He never even told Brooke the truth. Admittedly, he could’ve handled the issue of a post-nup better with his ex-wife. Maybe he didn’t count on how much he was going to miss having her in his life.

When their best friends’ wedding forces the exes to see each other again, a dangerous man from Garrett’s world threatens Brooke’s life. And they realize the only way to save themselves is to finally learn to trust each other.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Brooke and Garrett have recently gotten divorced, thing is that they still love each other but what pulled them apart is still causing a problem. They will have to face each other at their best friends wedding but in the week before they end up seeing each other again and again…
I loved Garrett as a character, he has been hurt in the past but it doesn’t stop him giving everything to Brooke, even if he does have a family secret that he doesn’t want to talk about. He always looks out for her, even if some of his actions could be linked to stalking, he still wants to protect her and is there if she needs him. To be honest, he’s the kind of guy I would like in my life
I struggled a lot more to actually like Brooke, whilst I understood that she had some major childhood trauma that scarred her, she refused to talk to Garrett about it and it pushed him away. She is so undecided on what relationship she wants with him, one minute she doesn’t want anything to do with him, the next she can’t keep her hands off him which really annoyed me. I do however wonder if because this is a novella that I have missed a lot of her character and that if I had more time to see her develop as a character that I would come to like her a lot more
I was hooked by the drama in this book and seeing it from both Garrett and Brooke’s perspective really worked as it allowed me in and to see them as people rather than just characters and which eventually led me to even start to like Brooke!
I would recommend this book to those who enjoy a romantic novella with some fabulous characters and a lot of emotional drama

Let Me Love You by Lasairiona McMaster

Let-Me-Love-You-EBOOK

Jilted by the only woman he’s ever loved, Jeremy Lewis is a man on a mission to be a renowned player – both on and off the ice. Who needs monogamy anyway?
But when he falls during a game, Jeremy finds himself laid-up with a potentially career-ending injury and his support network, suddenly gone. His best friend, AJ, is busy in a new relationship, his teammates are pursuing their own dreams of hockey stardom, and Jeremy is left frustrated, broken and alone.
Will their friendship survive AJ’s new relationship? Are Jeremy’s feelings for Chelsea truly a thing of the past? And can he persevere through his recovery to get back on the ice?

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Jeremy is a college ice hockey player who wants to be a star but he has an accident in the first game of the season that may scupper his chances

I’m not quite sure why but this book was strangely addictive. It’s written entirely from Jeremy’s point of view which I liked but at the same time I would have loved to hear from Chelsea as she is such an important person in his life

A lot of this book looks at Jeremy’s rehab from his injury and although I enjoyed reading his story, I did at times want to punch him! I mean I was totally routing for him to be back skating but he would then go and do something stupid which would annoy me and it was a while before he redeemed himself with me again

This book also looks at some of the emotions people can go through when not everything is going as they want it to, this pulled me in and I became emotionally attached to Jeremy, having felt some of those myself

I have gone through such a rollercoaster of emotions with this book and have gone from love to hate back to love again multiple times, which is something that would make me recommend it to so many people but especially those who enjoy stories about hockey, friendship and falling in love

Ten Days with a Duke by Erica Ridley

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Eli and Olives families have been feuding for years but her father thinks it may now be time to make peace so he suggests that Olive marry Eli. The only problem is that Eli humiliated Olive when they were younger and she can’t forgive him
Olive is a fabulous character, she is strong and independent but she also adores her father and would do almost anything to make him happy. She is a brilliant horsewoman and trainer and her families farm is well known across the country, not only for the horses but also the exclusivity of owning them. Olive manages her emotions by riding, it makes her happy and let’s her be herself rather than the person Eli and his family humiliated
I loved Eli, he may not love horses but he adores botany and dreams of finding a medicinal plant that will stop other women dying from childbirth in the way his mother did. Eli had never forgotten Olive, not because of the feud but instead because of the person she is and he hated what he had done to her and wanted her forgiveness
Being able to see the story from both Eli and Olives point of view really worked and made them feel more human, let me understand more about what is happening in their minds and adore them in a way that I may not have been able to as easily
This is not a traditional historical romance but it worked so well because of that and it had me hooked right from the start
I would recommend this book to those who enjoy a book full of drama with some fantastic characters and some unexpected surprises

Unwrapping the Best Man by Rachael Stewart

Unwapping The Best Man Cover

On the first night of Christmas, her sexy crush finally gave to her—an unbelievably hot night! Now she’s ready for nights two, three and four… Unwrap the steamy sequel to Getting Dirty by Rachael Stewart.

I’ve lusted after brawny, gorgeously rough Jackson Black for six lust-fueled, unrequited years. But Jackson has rules, and the big one is “no getting involved with clients” of his elite London sex club. Including me. But our best friends are getting married, and for one deliciously hot night, the maid of honor and best man agree…what happens in the Scottish Highlands, stays in the Scottish Highlands.

It was everything I wanted and more…until the complete jerk disappears during the night.

Now it’s Christmas, and I have a plan to prove to Jackson Black just how much I don’t care, that he doesn’t turn me on like a Christmas tree. Only Operation: Naughty Elf is backfiring big-time. That aching need for his touch is stronger than ever. It’s painfully clear that I want more than just a fling from the untouchable Jackson Black.

I have one chance to unwrap the best man. But is this sexy, guarded grinch about to steal my heart…or break it?

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Cait has wanted Jackson since she met him 6 years ago but his rules say no but a Scottish castle at their best friends wedding could change everything
I loved Cait, she is a strong character who knows what she wants. She is confident but also wary and the wedding is a chance for her to get what she wants. Thing is she isn’t sure that that will be enough
Jackson has been hurt in the past and it still affects him and his behaviour. It doesn’t stop him wanting Cait and his internal struggle is a huge part of the story which made me adore him even more
I absolutely loved this book, it has everything you could want, heat, drama, personal struggles and Christmas! Cait loves Christmas and her joy for the holiday season slowly infects Jackson (and me), this along with so much else made it a book that I couldn’t put down. Another fantastic read from Ms Stewart!
I would recommend this book to those who enjoy a festive romance with characters you will adore and a fabulous story
